Epson Stylus Photo 1400 ink-jet printer

Epson’s Stylus Photo 1400 is a photo ink-jet printer that produces high-quality, borderless prints up to 13 inches by 19 inches in size. Designed to make your images pop off the page at larger print sizes, the 1400 also offers CD/DVD printing and the ability to print directly from your camera, all for $400. It isn’t the speediest photo printer, and the software for printing on discs is lacking in features, but the most important piece—the prints themselves—are rich in color fidelity and detail, and they should last for a long time with proper care.

The Epson Stylus Photo 1400 takes photo printing to the next level with fast and impressive 13" x 19" prints at a breakthrough price. You get rich color and detail for enlargements, displays and more. With innovative Claria Hi-Definition Ink, plus ink droplets as small as 1.5 picoliters, you're sure to see the finest detail. Your projects are always ready to present. Display your work worry-free with smudge, scratch, water and fade resistant prints. Every print is sure to impress with auto color and lighting correction.

This high-speed, wide-format photo printer also offers value-added features like direct CD/DVD printing, so you can easily create professional-looking CD/DVDs for your digital files. Best of all, whether you print customized CDs or borderless, 12" x 12" scrapbooking layouts, the Epson 1400 makes it easy. Plus, it's fast, so you can move on to the next project in no time at all. It's all possible with this remarkable printer. Brilliant, large-size prints and beautiful everyday projects have never been easier. Realize your creativity with the Epson 1400.

Re: Epson Stylus Photo 1400 ink-jet printer

The Stylus Photo 1400 isn't slow, but it doesn't have the blazing print speeds found in some Canon and HP inkjets. Letter-size and 8x10in prints take approximately 2 minutes in high-quality mode, and 6x4in prints about a minute; a large, 13x19in print tumbles out of the printer in about twice that time, which is more than acceptable for a printer of this type.

    Specifications:

Ink usage was decent: we got more than 100 letter-size prints on a single set of cartridges before we had to change an ink tank. The cartridges have a higher capacity than the ones Epson uses in its less-expensive printers, but are not as large as those found on more-expensive photo printers. Even if you use the Epson Stylus Photo 1400 for snapshot-size prints, however, you'll find that it uses ink more efficiently than less-expensive photo printers.

What we would have liked, however, is a better disc-printing utility than the one that comes with the printer. It is hard to use, lacks integration with other programs, and really isn't of the quality level you will be used to.
