Re: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12

hey buddy some more info

This is a fairly big surprise. Do not announced in advance, the new Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 drives are just the first in Japanese and German stores. Carriers are marked with the symbol ST3500410AS fall and 500GB of data. Inside drives is a rotating plate with the rotational speed of 7,200 RPM, which means that the series will be from 7200.12 use plates with a capacity of 500GB. And it is the biggest surprise, not only for customers but perhaps even competitors Seagate, who, according to the announcement preparing to introduce talerzami discs with a capacity of 375 or 400Gb, instead of the current ceiling of 320-334GB. Interested parties may acquire drives in our western neighbors as the sum of 50-55 euros

Unfortunately, we do not know anything yet about the official premiere of disks, but it is possible that it will be held during the Fair CES (8-11 January 2009 Las Vegas).

Re: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12

response to a smaller number of plates is simple: the cost of production. Price falls drive, now costs an average capacity of <$ 50, while in 2003 it was around $ 100. The lower casing - the lower costs of production, packaging and transport.
