MSI today announced the Wind U115, an evolution of its flagship ultra-portable, waited as planned for early 2009. This new model is built around the Intel platform Menlow, also known under the code name Poulsbo, an Intel Atom Z530 and differs from its predecessors based on the aging platform Intel 945 and on an Intel Atom N270.
The MSI Wind U115 is also situated boarding a storage hybrid, composed of a SSD, which are installed the operating system and applications, and a traditional hard drive, which stores data (documents, photos, music, etc.).. The hard disk, although most energy as the storage medium flash memory, can be stopped when not in use. Coupled with low consumption of the Menlow platform and the Atom Z530 associated with it, the combination ensures autonomy greatly improved, up to 10 hours with a battery 3 cells by the manufacturer.
1.6GHz, the processor is supported by 1 GB of RAM. The ability of SSD is 8 or 16 GB while the hard disk is 120 or 160 GB Other features remain unchanged, as the screen that is 10 inches with a definition of 1024 x 600 pixels.
Wind U110 should also take advantage of the platform processor and Poulsbo Z530. These machines should be marketed during the month of January at prices not disclosed.
