    USB port on laptop vista

    hello everybody

a mega big problem, I have my laptop with Vista and the day after all my USB ports dropped me, I explain that, then I plug my debut USB drive to continue my work on a dossier of eco-law, I am heading to job and I click on my key and it asks me to format.

I formatted my Eton key and an error message saying it can not format it then I retire I put on another the same thing and all the other ports, I must say that this is my key that is dead so I plug my iPod and even that is not working . I can not do anything I ask for help please

Uninstall the USB ports in the gestonnaire peripherals and restarts. Windows should reinstall only to reboot.

Thank you pay attention to my problem (again lol)

In relation to the port, I followed your advice: uninstall and restart but the problem is still there ?

USB key is wrong. Some do not work or work poorly with Vista.
Indeed you will notice that on some USB key it is noted: "Vista"
Take a good brand name, gender Kingston. Quite affordable prices.

Several solutions are possible but in each case they will not work according to the machines.

The first solution is to write "manual" to Vista, where are your USB drivers (C: \ Windows \ system32 \ default).

First, check whether the drivers of USB storage devices are in their place, ie in the C: \ Windows \ inf.
The three files to find in this folder are:
    - Usbstor.inf
    - Usbstor.PNF
    - Usbstor.sys

For replace we will copy from another folder Vista where they are indeed present.
Go to C: \ Windows \ System32 \ DriverStore \ FileRepository \ folder and find the "usbstor.inf_XXXXX" (it is possible that there are many like me have on the image below but no matter, choose the first) .

Open the folder, you should find our three files.

Copy these 3 files in your C: \ Windows \ inf and return to Device Manager.

Double click (left) on the device (with exclamation point) and choose "reinstall the driver or update the driver."

If everything is successful, your USB key or external hard drives should finally settle properly and becomes available in your workstation.
