Unplug the AC power, remove the battery (if installed) and plug the sector restart "to see"?

It happened to me 2 times - in 6 years - on my Inspiron and it started .... But perhaps this is not the same cause?

    You can always try ...

for me it was definatley the display close power switch, located under switch/speaker panel.im not sure if the hinge activates it or not. looked into mine and found part# tag interfering w/ power switch board, cleaned it up, working good now. discovered this by gently pulling top left and pushing lower right of display, it would flicker.thaught it was closed probably a result of closing it with right side after every shut down.im trying to close only from middle..i also try never to pick it up from one corner, plastic is very bendy and **** comes loose.two hands always, specialy where rom is.i think your monitor thinks its closed. while black hold it under bright light and you can see enough to navigate.tried svid, used it for safemode driver check, took several hours before i got to hinge. i hope this is your troubles as they cost nothing to repair.my warrenty left 22 days ago.i was sweating.hope this helps.

Did you check properly. Is there any lights on the laptop or nearby power button. If there is any light blinking or you can feel vibrating effect below side, then the laptop is working, again the lcd failed. If not nothing happens then do this. Disconnect the battery and plug the laptop directly in power outlet. Turn it on. If it works then the battery has issue or it is completely drained out or else there is some major hardware problem in the system.
