Best gaming laptop for 65-70K

Hello Everyone,

I want a gaming laptop and the situation seems to be pretty blurry in India. I want a laptop with centrino 2 platform, 3-4GB of ddr2 ram(preferrably 800 Mhz) and around 250+ GB HDD(preferrably 7200RPM). But most importantly, a 512MB graphics card atleast 9600M GT from Nvidia side or mobility HD4670 from the ATI side. Prefer the latter due to the cool working temp. I really am hoping for the DDR3 versions of the cards.

Please Please Please suggest me some laptop and point me where can i get them?

I have checked a little bit and found the following (Correct me if I am wrong and add your comments please):

Dell - no option for 9XXX series or HD4XXX series.

HP - dv5 1015tx 64K+
dv5 1016tx 69K+
But both have the DDR2 versions of the 9600MGT

MSI - GX620, GX720... and a few other models... But where are they avaliable??? They have been launched in India, but i cant seem to get any place to egt them!!! :'(


Acer - 5930G, 6930G... great models launched in India... but same question.. avaliability with the nvidia card??? Its only avaliable with Intel parts. Not the nvidia card.
8920G and 8930G... out of budget. (Wish i could get 8930G )

Apple - Avaliable... and great if i can double my budget.

Sony - No good option in budget.

Toshiba and Lenovo - No idea.


I can extend my budget to 75K if required, but only if i get the parts are worth so much. MSI GX620 seems my best bet at 65K, but where can i find it??

Try the new DELL XPS Laptop or buy a Dell Studio 17 Laptop, the base price is 47882 INR (Exclusing Taxes)

Add the below.

Windows Vista Ultimate (INR 4972)
4 GB RAM (INR 1762)
256 MB ATI Mobile Radeon AD 3650 (INR 3080)
3 Years Complete Cover (INR 10545)

This would give u a great laptop at a great price (INR 68000 + taxes)

I would recommend complete cover, even though u would give 10K you have peace of mind for 3 complete years, even if the keyboard keys come off he would replace it.

And for the place, try Chroma Electronic shops, one located in Malad, Mumbai.

Hi,

I just visited the Dell site. Strangely couldnt find the option to configure the Studio 17
But the base price was 57900.
One big question is that is the 3650 over there DDR2 or DDR3. If it is DDR2 then the performance would be quite lower then 9600M GT DDR2 version. If it is DDR3 then it should match upto the green DDR2 one.

Inspiron 1520? Havent Dell India stopped that model sometime back? Its only 1525 with X3100 now
My friend has the configuration that u mentioned in 1520. He got it for 48 total around 7 months back.

I was hoping for a better graphics option. What about ACER and MSI?

What about the 9600M GT DDR3 card? Cant i get that in India within 65K?

I think you forgot about asus they also have gaming Laptop : Asus G71V and G50V Gaming Notebooks
and they are available in India.

where and whats the price of them. Seem pretty high end models.

ASUS model are available in india i have read it some were i dont remember it ,, try going to your nearest mall or retail shop .

I checked the Asus India site.. there are only 3 G series models present. G1s G2s and G2K

I never actually saw an Asus model in any shop. Can you name some malls where i can get Asus models?

If you live in mumbai You can try chroma, or try in town side you will get some good deals there . Hope this helps you .

But guys... I am looking for something more than 256Mb 8600GT ddr2/3. so at present, no dell model other than XPS 1730 meets the requirement. And its way out of budget.
Please tell where can i get a good 512 MB 9600MGT or similar ATI card'ed' laptop aound 70K in india??? :'(

The asus models are really damn good, but going by the price of G1S at its launch, the G50V(if avaliable) would be far above my budget.

My options are Kolkata (my home), Bhubaneshwar(my work place), Hyd and Blore(would be visiting them this month).
