Preferences:
1 performance.
2. multimedia(i dont need it 4 gaming)[sound n video quality]
3. no hustle pustle (it shud nt get restted because of heating poblesm etc)
4 i like 14 ' screen[13 too less 15 too big]
5 price with a value.

queries;
1 does dell studio has built in micophone ?
2 vostro is not a hype on net , does it has some problems ?

i have a dell xps m1530

it has good performance and you can upgrade your speakers to high definition audio.
there are no heating problems. my laptop is on non-stop for 4 days and i havent gotten any problems yet

Go for Dell XPS M1330(13.3 inch)...vry light n sturdy too...or studio series..new models...luks r also gud....
inspiron 1420 is also gud...wud come much cheaper....
in hp DV3000 series is gud....13 inch one....
Bt Dell is d best brand...
vostro series are lil sturdy n luks r nt quite gud...more sort of business laptops....

All dell laptops performance is top notch...better dan other brands....
Xps M1330 is nw offering 500Gb hard drive...Express card Tv tuner....Graphics card 128Mb 8400M Gs is nw free....camera bluetooth, fingerprint, card reader, hdmi...all dez things r common...

according to ur budget, u should go with..............
13" = XPS M1330
15" = XPS M1530
14" = inspiron 14 or search in vostro or latitude series

if u r buying from USA then also hav a look on vostro and latitude series
some latitude laptops hav G45 chipset = onboard graphic performance is better than studio's dedicated grfx card
