Features & Benefits
Intel Centrino 2 Processor Technology
The new Intel Centrino 2 processor technology provides a perfect match for notebooks by delivering higher performance, advanced connectivity, and longer battery life. Get up to 5x faster Wi-Fi performance and advanced chip design that lets you stay unplugged.
- CPU: The 45 nm state-of-the-art processor has a minimum 3 MB L2 cache and a 800 MHz Front Side Bus. The result is up to 50% faster performance, allowing you to multi-task to your heart’s content.
- Graphics: The optional Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD gives you at least 50% more graphics performance for more realistic gaming and improved visual detail and 3D graphics features.
- Wi-Fi: Ready for IEEE 802.11a/b/g/draft-n, with up to 2x better range and 5x better performance when compared with IEEE 802.11a/g.
- Battery Life: Next-generation, hafnium-infused chip design enables longer battery life, resulting in thinner, lighter notebooks.
Fujitsu Shock Sensor Utility
In the event your hard disk drive experiences excessive vibration or shock, there is a possibility that the read-write head will come in contact with the rotating platter, resulting in a "head crash." If this happens, data loss may occur. The Fujitsu Shock Sensor utility is a sophisticated hard disk drive protection system designed to minimize the likelihood of such an event.
Inside select Fujitsu notebooks and Tablet PCs there is an accelerometer that constantly senses for sudden movement, including free falls, excessive vibration, or impacts. Fujitsu Shock Sensor monitors movement from three axes: front-to-back, side-to-side, and up-and-down. The sensitivity can be adjusted by the user to accommodate different working environments.
If a sudden movement is detected, the read-write head is quickly retracted to a safe zone, reducing the possibility of a head crash and the potential loss of data. This technology reduces the risk of your hard drive being damaged and your data being lost forever.
Atheros XSPAN
Applications have become much more demanding of greater wireless bandwidth for such tasks as accessing MPEG 2 HDTV, video gaming, VoIP calls, and digital photography. The IEEE 802.11n standard (with its higher throughput and longer range) addresses the bandwidth issue. The Atheros XSPAN technology provides greater throughput (up to 300 Mbps), the signal remains consistent, drop-outs are minimized, and more concurrent devices can be reached across a greater area.
Security Panel
To protect your notebook from unauthorized access, the notebook features four "combination lock" buttons that can be used for pre-boot password log-in. Once set, the notebook will boot up only when the correct combination is entered.
There are 800,000 possible combinations with supervisor and user password levels allowing the IT manager to set a single supervisor password with unique user passwords for each employee for better manageability.
The buttons also allow users to easily launch applications with one easy touch. The buttons can be programmed to launch user's email, Internet browser, or other favorite applications.
Dual-Layer Multi-Format DVD Writer
Dual-layer DVD+/-R technology provides the ability to record up to 8.5 GB of data on a single disc surface. This nearly doubles the standard DVD capacity of 4.7 GB. That means one side of a DVD+R disc will hold up to 4 hours of DVD quality video or 16 hours of VHS quality video.
Dual-layer discs can also be read on DVD players that were originally designed for single-layer discs. In addition to its dual-layer DVD+R capabilities, this drive allows you to read and write to CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, and DVD RAM discs.
Gesture-enabled Touchpad
Expands the capability of the traditional touchpad by allowing you to use simple gestures to perform useful tasks. The gesture-enabled touchpad lets you:
- Zoom in by placing two fingers together on the touchpad and then moving them away from each other.
- Zoom out by placing two fingers on the touchpad and moving them towards each other.
- Continuous scroll (also called "ChiralMotion") by moving your finger in a clockwise circular motion to scroll down, or counter-clockwise to scroll up.
- Use Momentum to increase the cursor movement speed by sliding your finger quickly across the touchpad.
Biometric Security
The optional biometric fingerprint sensor along with OmniPass software from Softex Inc., allows user authentication and password management for all Web sites and system log-ins.
OmniPass software enables you to manage your passwords with an easy to use Windows-based application. With OmniPass, a user can "replace" all other passwords with one master password or his/her fingerprint. The first time a password secured website or application is used, the user simply enters the original password and then tells OmniPass to "remember that password". From that point forward, anytime that website or application is used, OmniPass will prompt the user to swipe the finger or enter the user's master password and access to that site or application is automatically granted.
