Did you try to uninstall and reinstall the driver for your cam.

Trying to use it with Yahoo Messenger, maybe it's not supported? Have installed it on desktop PC which runs WindowsVista and also laptop which runs Windows XP. Both have same problem, just a black screen when I go to view My Webcam. There is no lens cap, have tried lots of light in room.

I suppose that you have a few video sources and your YM uses the VFW mode. You should make the webcam driver active under the Microsoft WDM Image Capture (Win 32) driver.

If you don't know how to do this with your software, you may try
http://www.willingsoftware.com software using the 'Options > Video Source' hot button above the Preview window.

Did you try this driver which is compatible with many OS like Win98SE, WinME, WinNT4, Win2000, WinXP, WinVista, WinVista x64.
