ASUS Eee box pcs virus triggers recall in Japan

computer components assembler and netbook manufacturer Asustek has discovered a virus infesting all of its Eee Box PCs sold in Japan and is recalling them.

The malicious code dubbed "recycled.exe" may attempt to download additional malware while attempting to replicate itself to attached USB storage devices at the first opportunity. Of course, this isn't the first time that ASUS has been embarrassed by its image burns. It slows down the computer and might attempt to download more dangerous malware over the Internet.

Asus said it built only 4,500 Eee Box PCs for sale in Japan and, out of those, only 300 have been sold. The company said only Eee Box PCs sold into the Japanese market are affected

It has been discovered ASUS has been selling a number of laptops that contain (on both the physical machine and the recovery media) cracked and pirated software, together with confidential documents from Microsoft and other organizations, as well as internal documents, and sensitive personal information including CVs.
