    old laptop memory problem

    Hi,
    I am having problem with my old laptop. It runs fine but if i try to put the new SD ram chip in rear trap door compartment, laptop wont turn on.
    I want to upgrade the ram.
    Please help what could be the reason?

    Well i want to ask you only 1 question the chip you are trying to install fits properly without any special efforts or not?
    If its not booting up with this ram chip then the chip is not supporting your motherboard.
