Fujitsu LifeBook A1110 Gets Some New Patterns

Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation hopes that consumers will flip their lids over the company's new swappable PC computer lids available in three vibrant colors with three distinct patterns on the new LifeBook A1110 sub-$800 multimedia notebook. Interchangeable by simply snapping the lids onto the LCD cover, consumers can express themselves with an eye-catching green mod labyrinth, bright pink design with butterflies, or a cool blue Victorian print. Open the lid and a 15.4-inch wide high-contrast Crystal View LCD delivers bright images and rich colors for an exceptional viewing experience.

    News Highlights

    • Other notebooks ship with colored lids, but the LifeBook A1110 is the only notebook available with changeable colored covers.
    • The green mod labyrinth design cover ships standard with the LifeBook A1110 notebooks. The pink lid with butterflies and the blue lid with a Victorian print are available for $19.95 each.
    • Built-in camera and digital microphone make it easy to take still pictures, capture video and teleconference.
    • Removable dust filter for periodic cleaning results in cooler running, longer lasting notebooks.
    • Spill-resistant keyboard safeguards against damage from accidental spills. If a liquid is spilled, a protective membrane and collection tray help keep internal components dry.

Full recovery disk is included at no charge.

Features: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor; Microsoft(R) Windows Vista(TM) Home Premium; spill-resistant keyboard; dual-layer multi-format DVD Writer; fast and longer range Atheros XSPAN(R) wireless; webcam, three USB 2.0 ports, SD slot, ExpressCard(TM) slot; 6.3 pounds.

Priced starting at $799(1) for a base configuration. Users can choose from a recommended configuration, or they can customize (colored covers only) their LifeBook A1110 notebook using the Fujitsu Configure To Order (CTO) program. Available through the Fujitsu website and select retailers/etailers(2).

Backed by a one-year International Limited Warranty for U.S. and Canadian customers. A three-year International Limited warranty is available at the time of purchase. The International Limited Warranty(3) includes technical support 24 hours a day, seven days a week(4), and unlimited online chat support. In addition, Fujitsu offers other warranty plans designed to meet the unique needs of mobile users.

Paul Moore, Senior Director of Mobile Product Management, Fujitsu Computer Systems:

"With existing color notebooks, you're stuck with that color for the life of the notebook. Swappable Fujitsu covers allow you to not only express yourself, but to change the expression. Like a chameleon, you tailor your computer color to your environment. Fujitsu is the first to offer covers you can change, and has engineered the lids so they easily snap on and snap off the LCD cover. With PCs now being a personal expression of the individual, and in many instances a fashion accessory, accessorizing the PC was a logical step."

Fujitsu isn't exactly famous for its notebooks that are artistically inclined, but things could change with the new LifeBook A1110 that features a distinct, eye-catching pattern lid.

This lid was specially created to snap on and off the LCD cover, making it interchangeable to go along with your mood for the day. At $20 a pop, it is rather pricey for a piece of plastic, but at least you don't have to go purchasing five or six of the same notebooks, right?
