Verizon have announced that they are now carrying Samsung’s SCH-U430 clamshell cell phone, offering Verizon customers a strictly non-3G option courtesy of a handset that will hardly set anyone’s pulses racing – though the fact that the Samsung SCH-U430 is available for free on the basis of a two year contract thanks to an online discount will, undoubtedly, serve to raise this somewhat dull handset’s appeal (though, arguably, not by much).
Measuring in at 93×47x22 mm, the dual-band CDMA (800/1900) Samsung SCH-U430 comes with a 1.9” 128×160 resolution 65k main colour display supplemented with a 96×96 resolution external screen , an integrated 0.3 megapixel VGA (640×480 resolution) camera complete with timed shutter and Night Shot functions allowing for image capture in low light environments and, by way of connectivity, there’s Bluetooth +EDR and WAP 2.0 (no Wi-Fi), and thanks to Verizon’s VZ Navigator application, the SCH-U430 can also be utilised as an assisted GPS navigation device (complete with ‘turn-by-turn’ voice directions). You also get VoiceSignal’s speech recognition software thrown in for good measure.
The Samsung SCH-U430 is available to Verizon customers now.
