iPod touch 2G Has Bluetooth Chipset Within

The curious minds at iFixit uncovered a Broadcom Bluetooth chipset inside the innards of an iPod touch 2G, something that was withheld from the general public during the device's launch a Broadcom BCM4325 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR chip. (That's the silver rectangle in the middle of the top circuit board there.)

The iPod touch's Bluetooth chipset supports 2.1+EDR. We don't know for sure yet if it has A2DP, which would let you use stereo headphones—and be another hardware one-up over the iPhone besides ">the built-in Nike+ functions. Just to be totally accurate, the BCM4235 also does WiFi -- and Nike+iPod has been called a "proprietary 802.11 protocol" in the past, so it's even less likely that it's there for actual Bluetooth usage.
