Dell to launch Inspiron 910 netbook this week

Dell have confirmed that they will be launching their netbook offering this week, as was suggested earlier on today. However the company spokesperson declined to name the upcoming budget ultraportable, believed to be the Inspiron 910, and described the leaked specifications seen so far as “still pretty much rumor and speculation”.

Other than confirming the new product's scheduled introduction, a Dell's spokeswoman declined to provide details on what's probably the worst kept secret on the Web. Gadget enthusiast sites have been leaking details on the device, expected to be called the Inspiron Mini 9, for the last couple of weeks. The launch date could be as early as Thursday.

The Intel Atom based Dell Inspiron 910 netbook features are supposed to include a 8.9 inch screen with 1024x600px resolution, 512MB/1GB RAM, 4GB/8GB/16GB SSD storage, 1.3MP camera, and 4-cell battery. Prices will start from $299 upwards.

Dell Inspiron 910 to be launched tomorrow (Sept. 4)

An email from Dell partner Box.net, an online storage company show that the anticipated nettop will launch tomorrow (sept. 4). It is interesting to see that Dell will feature Box.net’s service. This is huge for Box – congrats!. It's not clear if the leak was organized or "genuine", but does it matter? The final pricing is the last uncertainty. Come back tomorrow!

Following the news of the launch of the device, Vodafone and Dell have announced that Dell’s Inspiron Mini 9 netbook will be sold with built-in mobile broadband, exclusively through Vodafone stores and online, and directly from Dell, in key European markets.

Available from late September, the Inspiron Mini 9, featuring built-in mobile broadband from Vodafone, will deliver instant internet connectivity anywhere with no need for an external modem.

Andrew Sangster, director of PC Connectivity, Vodafone, says: "Today’s announcement marks the next step in the evolution of mobile broadband services bringing mobile broadband into the hands of many more customers".

Details of country availability and pricing will be made available in coming weeks. The basic version of the Mini 9 costs £299 direct from Dell.
