Laptop not charging!

Hi Friends!
I have a Toshiba laptop that is not charging.
it's not taking a charge, it says it's plugged in but not charging. I really can't calibrate the battery because well it never charges. If it's turned off and plugged in the charge light never goes off to indicate it's charged. So what should I do?

try another dc adapter. If that doesn't work, have the laptop serviced.
if the dc adapter is bad but the laptop runs fine on the dc adapter. show the green light on the front of the laptop for power.
if the dc adapter is working, then your charging circuit internally needs to be serviced professionally.

What lights flash on the laptop? If the red one does I would suggest getting a new battery
I had a similar problem and had to replace mine

If you've got a multimeter you could stick it on the terminals in the battery compartment, and watch what happen when you plug in the mains. If there is voltage present, then you know the battery is duff and the mobo probably good. You might have to be a bit creative with this because the mobo may only charge with the battery in, so you may have to make some little fly leads to test it with the battery in. You will also have to test the different terminals.

Turns out it was the battery.
Just letting those know the outcome for those with similar issues.
Some batteries go completely dead if they are on charge continuously.
Other batteries (Acer in my experience) go completely dead if the charge level drops too low, eg, through leaving the laptop unused for a while.
