Nikon announces Coolpix P6000 with advanced integrated GPS receiver

For some time, Nikon returns to the segment of compact advanced. After the Coolpix P5100 and P50 announced a year ago, here that recidivism with a model even more interesting since, modes and settings it adds a very valuable function of GPS: the Coolpix P6000.

The receiver is not done to help find its way but to automatically trigger photos by adding location information (latitude and longitude) to the classic data Exifs (date taken, camera model, etc.). Once back home, the possessor of such a device may rely on such data to show photos on an online map like Google Earth. Nikon also offers a solution owner called my Picturetown for storing and sharing photos. This information will provide additional place to the user a new way - living - to share his photographs with his family to which it may offer to make a virtual tour in its wake. A compact which incorporates a GPS receiver (that is the first one to our knowledge), is even more interesting than external modules making the same services still lack reliability and weigh on the overall budget.

For the rest, the P6000 benefits as we said earlier with many modes and settings: priority and manual modes, recording Raw (note the passage on the arrival of a new format NRW and instead NEF dearly Nikon), compatibility with accessories type flash converter and wide-angle, quality of construction, etc. It is also a device for optical stabilization, which reduces the impact of the photographer and moved that allows for a sharper image on the screen. It should be noted, finally, the presence of a wide-angle lens equivalent to a 28 - 112 mm, which was so lacking in P5000.

    Here are the main specifications:
    • Catcher: CCD 1 / 1, 72 "of 13.5 million pixels
    • Referred: 2.7-inch LCD for 230 000 pixels + optical viewfinder
    • Zoom: 4 x, eq. 28 - 112 mm f / 2,7-5,9 with optical stabilization
    • Sensitivity: 64 to 2 000 Iso (up to 6 400 Iso to 3 million pixels)
    • Shutter speed: 1 / 2 000 for 8 seconds
    • Macro mode: up to 2 cm
    • Power: Lithium Ion battery
    • Interface: USB and Ethernet
    • Support registration: SD / SDHC

The P6000 will be available in September at a price of 479 euros.

This is not bad for "small" compact. As against the price is not within everyone's reach.
