According to the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. Dell test for several months in an internal prototype media player which, if validated, could sign the return of the mark on the portable market. After a first foray in 2003, Dell had finally put an end to its activities in this area in 2006, in the absence of market share enough to fight effectively against the hegemony of Apple in this regard. Among its latest models, the DJ Ditty (photo) had not managed to find its audience, whether in Europe or the USA.
The iTunes model, and less binding? Alongside its future player, Dell has the intention to propose a dedicated software, which automatically go buy music on various online services. In other words, the manufacturer again Texan model introduced by Apple with its iTunes Store, without subjecting the user to a download service in particular. The precise modalities for operating this service, and the possible presence of technological protection measures (DRM), have not yet been specified. The answer, however, could intervene as early as September.
