Freecom announced world's smallest 2.5in external hard drive

Freecom introduce the Mobile Drive XXS - the world’s smallest 2.5” USB-2 external hard drive and the latest addition to the mobile storage family. Boasting a massive 27% reduction in size than its closest competitor, the XXS is not just small in design but also the lightest 2.5” external hard drive in the market, weighing in at just 155g. The XXS is small in design but is big on storage, offering up to 320GB of mobile backup.

Despite its lightweight design, the drive is available in 160GiB, 250GiB and 320GiB capacities. It'll utilise USB 2.0, providing speeds of up to 480Mbit/s, and the drive is encased in a "form-fitting rubber sleeve for optimal grip."

It'll work with both Mac and PC, and the 160GiB, 250GiB and 320GiB models are priced at £44.99, £59.99 and £79.99, respectively.

Is it an external hard drive or internal?

As seen from your another thread freecom toughdrive not detected in my pc, if you are talking about the same hard drive, then it is mentioned that it is a USB drive. This means that it is an external hard drive and these do not have IDE or SATA cables. So no need to worry if the hard drive is SATA or not. Coz it is actually a USB hard drive

Thats why I asked whether the hard drive is internal or external. As external hard drives dont fall under any such catagories (IDE or SATA). For more clarification have a look at this recent thread Difference between IDE and SATA drives
