New Dual-Sim Touchscreen Handset Samsung D980

Dual SIM touchscreen phone for the successor of Samsung F480 phone called Samsung D980. The D980 will works on triband GSM networks and support GPRS and EDGE connectivity.The Samsung D980 sport a 2.6-inch touchscreen with QVGA ( 240 x 320 pixel) resolution in 262 K colors.

The major difference between the D980 and F480 is that the first handset comes with dual-SIM technology, allowing you to use two SIM cards at the same time. Also, the D980 only features tri-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, unlike the F480 which has 3G connectivity too. These aspects aside, the two phones are quite similar, when it comes to both their design and their capabilities.

Among the features included in the D980, we have: a 2.6 inch TFT touchscreen display with 260K colors and 240 x 320 pixels, a 5 Megapixel camera with flash, auto focus and video recording, Bluetooth 2.0, Music and Video players, FM radio, Web and email capabilities, Instant Messaging, USB, expandable memory and so on.

Samsung will introduce D980 as a high-end phone, we can see it from the camera planted to the phone which is a 5 megapixel camera complete with flash and autofocus.Other features include Bluetooth 2.0, USB and microSD card slot. While we call this Samsungs cellphone as D980.


The new Samsung handset will be first available in China, via China Mobile, the largest mobile carrier in the world (more than 392 million users), under the name of Samsung D988. In Europe, the phone will be on sale as Samsung D980 DuoS, but there are no details about when and where exactly. The retail price of D980 /D988 is another unknown detail – it will be a high one anyway.

One of my cousin gifted me this phone and I have been using it for a couple of months till now and all of a sudden the touchscreen of this phone has started to die, it just hangs whenever I get a call from somebody and I am not even able to call anyone due to the touchscreen not working. This is the worst touchscreen phone ever made by samsung so I would say that dont waste money on this phone.

At first glance, not too much of difference comes from this Samsung SGH-D980 Duos mobile as compared to the D880 mobile phone. The design and characteristics of the two devices are actually quite similar. A closer examination of the data sheet, however, reveals one major difference: the thickness. While the Samsung D880 mobile phone is discreet at the bottom of the pocket with less than 12 mm thick, the D980 Duos is much more impressive with 16.3 mm thickness. They are otherwise identical to other measurements.
