BenQ E55 Mobile

BenQ Mobile, after acquiring the mobile department of Siemens, has started a quick decline, which was no surprise for the industry. The Siemens brand has already been quite outdated by then, so BenQ couldn't succeed with it. The manufacturer currently produces cell phones mostly for Taiwan only, but these are slowly replaced by the production of internet tablets (MID).

The 3G clamshell E55, pictured below, is not the slimmest product on the market with its size of 94 x 48 x 19 mm size and weight of 95 grams, but it's still an elegant device. The external, 96 x 64 pixels large cSTN display and the internal 2", 176 x 220 pixels large TFT that displays 262 thousand colors and the 2 megapixel camera are enough only for the mid-range.

The handset's 45 MB internal memory that can be expanded with a microSD card cannot be used only for storing MP3 tracks, images and videos, but stuff recorded from the FM radio is also stored here. One of the downsides of the handset is the 900 mAh battery, which provides only 2.4 hours of talk time, but it's standby time is not better either, only 180 hours. Still, for a price of $230 USD, BenQ E55 is not a bad buy. Or at least it wouldn't be, as the manufacturer's models are still not available in Europe.
