no, free anti-virus can be just as good as the ones you pay for example-Norton vs almost any free program, but there are some good paid ones I just think you can find something just as good for free
Nod32 is a really good paid ati-virus, while AVG is good as well, but free.
"Me fail English!? That unpossible!"
No, free anti viruses are good, I never had problem with that. I have never tried paid ones.
I have never used paid software's but I think they must be having advanced features, guarantee, and online help for its customers.
A combo of apps I use and has served me well:
AVG7.5(Idon't care for 8.0)
threatfire-as a complement to AVG
windows defender
super-antispyware free edition
got this combo running on 40 -50 systems and no one has had problems.
remember to scan with each on a regular basis (once every week or two)
add malwarebytes to scan with and system should stay clean.
I load and repair pc's as a hobbie and make a bit of $ at it.
Once I put these apps in and people RUN THEIR SCANS , never a call about viruses
ALL of these apps are FREE
Well in free ones there are limited actions that you can only do. So it's better to avail the complete package of it to have the full protection that it offers the costumer.
