| Re: Which is the best E-Commerce Software? Zen Cart Zen Cart is an open source online store management system. It is PHP-based, using a MySQL database and HTML components. Support is provided for several languages and currencies, and it is freely available under the GNU General Public License. Zen Cart branched from osCommerce as a separate project. Beyond some aesthetic changes, the major differences between the two systems come from Zen Cart's architectural changes(e.g. a template system) and additional included features in the core. Among the modules already included are a Gift Certificate/Voucher module which allows to create, send and manage the digital coupons. A module to sell downloads(pdf or other media files) is included as well. |

This means that all new software releases after February 5th, 2008 will only support PHP 5.2 or later, although they have stated that PHP4 versions of the software will continue to be supported beyond this date. Version 4.2.0 of the software was released on February 20th 2008, and was the first release following the GoPHP5 initiative guidelines, requiring a minimum PHP version of 5.2.0 |

Complex scripting is kept out of the way so that you can design and deploy a top rate store that your client can manage with little or no training. storesprite is released under a freeware license which means you can download it, install it and use it free of charge. I think Os-commerce is the best e-commerce software available for having robust web applications. It is widely used among all other e-commerce softwares. I feel Zen Cart is one of the better free shopping carts. It is an open source shopping cart system, which means that developers can add to the code, developing additional features and functionalities.Zen Cart is easy to install, and it is also easy to use. The interface is very user friendly, and the shopping cart can be installed with relative ease. In fact, you can have your Zen Cart installed and activated in less than 15 minutes |
