At what maximum overclocking ghz can a Q6600 cpu run?

I have updated my cpu to Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 and I am willing to try out overclocking with it. I am aware of what overclocking is and how I have to overclock the processor and I am here just to find out the maximum overclocking that can be done with Q6600 having it stable? Any ideas? Has anyone tried overclocking it at its max?

Since you have mentioned what overclocking is and how to do it you must be aware that overclocking depends on other components of your system as well, like psu, cpu cooler etc.I have found Q6600 to be stable at 5.1Ghz but I don’t think that every system can attain that much. As far as average is concerned I don’t think you should have any issue in attaining 3.6 ghz. I have come across many people who have mentioned that 3.6 ghz can be attained easily, so you don’t have to worry until then. After attaining 3.6 ghz you should be a bit careful overclocking it further.

Yes I was able to overclock Q6600 @ 3.7 with 1.37 Vcore and 65 Celsius temperature. I dint had any issue in attaining that but when I tried overclocking it further to 3.8 then temperature started increasing. I stopped overclocking further as it is recommended no to overclock when temperature goes above 70 Celsius.

Currently I am using it at 3.5 as I don’t find much difference between 3.5 and 3.7. If you are having a good cooling for your cpu then I think that you will be able to overclock it up to 4. Ghz, you should not have any issue up till there. I will suggest you to better try it out yourself as people will suggest you different benchmarks as per their system.
