Should I re-apply Arctic Silver or something else on my CPU

My system processor was getting overheated a month ago and I had applied Arctic Silver on it to lower its temp to some extent. It was quite helpful but jus after a month it has started getting overheated again. I was thinking of applying thermal paste again as I am not in a condition of getting a new processor for now. So what I wanted to know, Should I re-apply Arctic Silver or something else on my CPU this time??

I will suggest you to better go for Prolimatech, I have used both Arctic Silver and Prolimatech and have found Prolimatech to be better one. It is a bit costly then Arctic but it’s the best, you can use it without any doubt. Prolimatech has been voted as best by experts after testing a number of other thermal compounds with it.

You can use any one of the below ones:
    • IC7 diamond
    • OCZ Freeze
    • AC MX-2
    • Indigo Xtreme

I don’t think that they will make much difference until you are having a good cpu cooler, I have used them all and have hardly seen any difference in temperature between them. They all can help you in lowering your cpu temperature by 7 to 10 degree.

I am not very sure but this is what I have come across as some of the best thermal compounds for 2012:

I have used Rosewill RCX-TC060 Thermal Compound and I think that is best of them all, it can lower the cpu temp by 10 degree. I have been using the same in one of my old system where its processor was getting overheated. Since applying Rosewill RCX-TC060 it works quite well.

I see 10 degree downfall in the temperature as compared to what it was before. I am quite satisfied with it and I reapply it to my cpu after every two months.

I have checked out for the same and have found varying answers for it, a number of sites have carried out their testing with several thermal compound and have ranked them accordingly.

    OCZ Freeze
    IC Seven Carat Diamond
    TIM Consultants T-C Grease 0098
    Shin-Etsu X-23-7762
    Shin-Etsu Microsi Silicon Compound
    Shin Etsu G751
    Thermalright Chill Factor
    Noctua NT-H1
    Zaward HSC-G
    Arctic Cooling MX-2
I can trust this list as I myself have used OCZ Freeze and have never been disappointed with it.
