Overclocking AMD FX 8150 throttles to 7x200=1400 MHz

well I overclocked my AMD FX 8150. After doing that I have found this particular CPU throttles to 7x200=1400 mhz. I am suspecting that it is happening because of 4+1 power phase has been used rather than that of 4+4+2 or 4+4+4+2. If you are having any useful information to resolve the thing provide over here as early as possible. Thanks a lot in advance.

After going through the issue of yours I think you will need to have a look on core temps. According to me they are supposed to be most important to observed. When you will have full load then it supposed to be quite higher and you have to worry about the full load temps.

You should see that motherboard should be running on the default settings. I don’t think so vcore wont jump to 1.37v by their own. You will need to set vcore to 1.2v as well as turn off the turbo mode. Also you should set multiplier to x16 or x17 on 1.2v. this would help you out to keep the temperature down of yours CPU.

As far as I know 9xx series chipset is having really bad powermanagment system. first of all you have to check into the BIOS settings that thermal management has been disabled. Second thing you should look for any BIOS updates available. Also you have to take care of the thing Windows has been set to high performance mode and processor state set should be set to 100% min.

Well 9xx series chipset is having power draw based throttling which is working on the top of thermal control. Until and unless manufacturer of motherboard supposed to allow to disable AMD APM or Application Power Management then you will not be able to do the same. if you drop down CPU below some limit then there would be beginning of throttling and it would simply raise the system performance at the time of heavy usage as compared to when you are supposed to allow throttle.
