    E8400 cannot go over 3600Mhz

I want to overclock my computer over 3600Mhz. I tried to do this but was not able to do that. Here is the specification for my system for which I am getting the problem.
    • MB ASUS P5K/EPU (P35 chipset)
    • Intel Core2Duo E8400
    • Scythe Mugen SCINF-1000
    • Corsair XMS2 4096MB 800Mhz KIT
    • Samsung 750GB 32MB SATA2
    • Gecube Radeon HD3870X2 1024MB
    • Corsair TX650W

I disabled many things from bios like CPU Spread Spectrum, CPU Ratio Control, Vanderpool Technology etc but that was also not helpful for me. When I raised the Vcore to 1,425V then the temperature went to 60°C. Please help me guys.

On these chips, if you want to get 4ghz then you will need 1.3-1.4v. You can check your CPU-Z that what does it report your voltage as? If you set 1.425v pin the BIOS then you will get considerably less in Windows. Also if you set the FSB to445 then it will overclock your RAM. You should check the range for the voltage for your RAM supports and you should confirm that you are close to the top value of that range.

Re: E8400 cannot go over 3600Mhz

I think that you have to set the voltage for the CPU to 1.4-1.425. Your RAM needed to boost up to 1.9-2.1 with FSB Volts to +1. You should also modify the RAM to 1:2 or anything settings confirm. So you are not at pc1400, you are running at Pc800. I hope this will help you to do what you want.

Re: E8400 cannot go over 3600Mhz

Give a try to the above two posts and see whether that helps you or not. One main thing that one should consider while performing overclocking is overheating. Any king of overclocking increases the temperature of the system. And if this temperature goes very high then it may also cause some major problems for your system. So my advice to you is to use a good cooling system for your computer if you are overclocking that.
