    Core i7-950 system information

I have just bought a new computer system having an Intel Core i7-950 Processor with Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Motherboard. This machine has a 4Gb Dual Channel Kingston KHX1600C7D3K2/4GX Intel X.M.P, DDR3-1600, non-ECC, unbuffered 7-8-7-20 1.65V. I am going to run 64-bit Windows 7 operating system on this machine. Suggestions on above specifications would be appreciated. I would like to overclock this machine with a quiet/silent fan if possible...Can you guys give me some idea about the same?

That's what I did, with 1.4 volts directly to the processor bus speed of 187 MHz instead of 133 MHz base: at the same time, I turned off the turbo to the processor, and we bootons directly. No black screen or anything, you get Vista without problem. Not bad at all, and all in less than a quarter of an hour. Complicated and not efficient! For those who do not really want to change voltages, it is still possible to stabilize the CPU at 166 MHz bus, 3.82 GHz is the final (or 4 GHz when the Turbo enabled). It still brings a surplus of 8 ° C in temperature once the processor at full load, and may damage your CPU if the heat removal is not performed perfectly. It is very definitely possible to go further with this processor: just take the CoolerMaster V8 and fun to fine tune your motherboard, and it is not unlikely to flirt the 4.5 GHz air-cooling.

I have an Intel i7 950 with a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 and 6 gigs of ram Corsair Dominator 12800, I tried to oc this, I can be stable under OCCT for 1 hour at 3.65 GHz Broadband Test , cons by temperatures in 100% processor usage reaches 69 °, rising to 4 GHz should I increase the vcore accordingly and there the CPU reaches close to 76 °. I do not think I'll win big thing between 3.65 GHz and 4 GHz, I already found the first honest what do you think?

Already, no risk that a game make you up to 76 ° C as is the case with OCCT after 1 hr with 4 cpu_usage 100% throughout. Well if between 3.65 and 4 GHz you will not win, you win already provided anything between 3.06 and 3.65 GHz!? Between 3.6 GHz and 4.4 GHz I have not won anything in games, especially with graphics that I have loads in 1920 * 1200 8x 16x. For cons, I have a gap in software / reactivity / loading. Maybe a kit h50-like would be more appropriate to dissipate as much heat as aluminum heatsink ... Considering that this formula is approximately consistent:
    • TDP TDP stock oc = * (freq oc / stock freq) * (OC Vcore / Stock Vcore) ²

In my opinion, you should make around 200W @ 4GHz! Far from the TDP of 130W @ stock.
