Overclocking HD Radeon 5650 on Acer Aspire 5552g laptop

I am going to purchase a new laptop very soon. My prime requirement is that I would be overclocking my graphics card to get better performance. For the graphics card, I have already decided to stick with HD 5650. I will be buying a laptop which have this card. Until now I have found out that Acer Aspire 5552g have this card but I am little concerned about this laptop. The first thing which I noticed that the laptop has thinner case when compared to other Acer models. How about overclocking on this model of Acer, is it worth or I shouldn't do that ? Have anyone done any kind of overclocking on this laptop?

Of course you can overclock HD Radeon 5650 on Acer Aspire 5552g laptop. However the only thing which you need to understand is that you require a hacking software that will allow you to do it. Also please note that by doing so you will be voiding your laptop warranty, this may generate more heat which your heatsink may not cope up, and last but not the least its very risky if you don't have much knowledge about overclocking and you break something if you still continue with the same.

If performance is your main concerned then why are you going with 5552g only; there are a lot of other models in especially Acer which gives better performance. You can even go with 5740g which comes with Core i5. I recommend Intel products over AMD because they gives better performance and are most stable one compared to the later one. If you are willing to accept other ACER models than there are indeed a lot of models which best suits your need.

I know Acer 5740, with i5, is a better processor model but it is not so easily available at my place. I know there are lots of other and indeed better models from Acer but they are too costly and doesn't fits in my budget. On the contrary, 5552g is the one which my retailer finds easily in the market and fits in my budget. Apart from the cost it looks good and so I thought I can go for this.

I would not recommend to go with 5552g since it gets too hot when done overclocking. It has been already tested by some experts that when it was overclocked the max temperature of the CPU was around 92 C, whereas the GPU temperature was around 82 C. Due to this the temperature of the bottom surface of the case reaches 45 C (which is indeed too hot). It strictly requires a lot of cooling and if not provided then your system will burst out. But if you go with Acer 5740G then even after overclocking the case remains at 34 C (which can not be considered as too hot). This is the main reason we suggest you to go with Acer Aspire 5740G model.
