    Overclocking or buy new CPU?

I want out of my system a bit more power to get out. The following is my configuration :
    Packard Bell iPower X9110
    ASUS P5N-E SLI
    3 GB DDR2 @ 533
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2,4 GHz
    2 x 360 GB Seagate Barracuda SATA RAID0
    2 x GeForce 8600 GS SLI (2x 512 MB)
I would love to overclock. Like I was able to find the motherboard is crap for overclocking, which could you recommend me? New DDR2 yes then I would need also believe, right?? There are any good? About the graphics card I need to write well is not much, well shit will soon be replaced by a (no more SLI), which I do not know.

So a new 775 board I would not get. Save and get better base 1156 or base 1366 (depending on your budget) or just AM3. Generally you can with a very good OC Q66 target results. 3,2 Ghz G0 Stepping in are always possible and up to 3.6 Ghz is not uncommon. However, I do not see a problem: your memory. You have DDR2-533. At very high FSB by OC, it is quite possible no divider or dividers are not good anymore. At some point does your storage unwell or it brakes out of the whole system. For FSB400 and more I would take at least DDR2-800. DDR2-1066 is even better, as reserves. But I see now, NEN you have Nvidia chipset. Since this is not matter anyway, because you as the FSB independently of RAM can overclock. However, an FSB of 400 does not matter if only DDR2-533 is available. That slows down.

Your board would create quite FSB400. I would if I get new memory module and that's it. Nen 775 new Board makes no sense. But your Q66 is also in G0 Stepping? Because if not, then OC makes little sense, since the predecessor just came to 3 GHz. Start times and there CPUZ upper left and center left is stepping. There should either G0 or B3 (I think, at least something with Bx) are.

Now you just need to know what you do. Nen new board I would say no. If you want to overclock, you can try it first so times, just how far you get. Then I would get but the new store. Recommend DDR2-1066, if you want to go far above 3 GHz. For more FSB400 DDR2 800 (1:1 divider) is sufficient. Everything else about it I would do with DDR2-1066. Or you overclockers only NEN little or not at least one month and still save or 2, and fetch thee new NEN ix Core or Athlon system. though one must say here that a Q66 of 3.2 Ghz or higher is not much slower as a Phenom X4 940 / 955.

I would first try to set FSB400 with a multi of 8 (Standard 9). Then you have 3.2 GHz. The VCore should be 1.25 to 1.27 volts for this (estimated differently depending on model). There you have the Nvidia chipset, the RAM divider does not matter, because the FSB overclocked there, independent of RAM. When running at 3.2 Ghz, can you even try to use the multi to 8.5 (if your board accepts 0.5 step) or set to full 9, which would then be 3.6 GHz. You must increase the VCore but unless you have a very good model caught.
