Re: How to Overclock i7-860 on Gigabyte P55-UD3R ?

There are few steps for over clocking which I am explaining below:
    • You should to remember the maximum voltage and stay under the
      1.55V for Vcore,
      1.21V for VTT,
      1.65V for RAM
    • Keep low BCLK.
    • Use EIST and C1 state of power saving and disable turbo mode.
    • Run CPU at 1.9v.

Can anybody explain the logic behind the options i.e. bclk, qpi. What are the effect of pcie bus and memory? Can anybody explain me a step by step order so that I come to know what settings need to change? Any suggestion will be appreciated.

    • BCLK: It is the front side bus which is replaced with quick path interconnects (QPI) which sometimes called as BCLK (baseclock). It is also called as memory controller.
    • QPI is the chipset controller.

They affect to the memory as they will go up the memory speed will increase.

I think for Over clocking you should to keep these things in mind. Do the things stated below:
    • Low down the memory frequency.
    • After that lock the timings and the voltage.
    • After determining the IMC voltage increase the BCLK.
