    8800 GTS Overclock - Settings

Hi, as you all know already so determined, the clock rates at the G80 can not be set exactly, instead ROP and Shader domain jump in relatively large jumps (the memory too). I would like to discuss about the Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS. I have these jumps (GPU) is sometimes divided into stages, always at the beginning of the set range, then the real measure (ROP and shader) and then the stage. If you wish, you can even post times, which model of the GTS (PCB color and brand) and what level you have achieved your stable (read with RivaTuner (Final Version)).

    Setting - Rop shader stage

    509-524 / 513 / 1188 / 1
    525-526 / 513 / 1242 / 2
    527-547 / 540 / 1242 / 3
    548-553 / 540 / 1296 / 4
    554-571 / 567 / 1296 / 5
    572-584 / 576 / 1350 / 6
    585-594 / 594 / 1350 / 7
    595-603 / 594 / 1404 / 8
    604-616 / 612 / 1404 / 9
    617-617 / 621 / 1404 / 10
    618-634 / 621 / 1458 / 11
    635-641 / 648 / 1458 / 12
    642-661 / 648 / 1512 / 13
    662-664 / 675 / 1512 / 14
    665-679 / 675 / 1566 / 15
    680-687 / 684 / 1566 / 16
    688-692 / 684 / 1620 / 17
    693-711 / 702 / 1620 / 18
    712-724 / 720 / 1674 / 19
    725-734 / 729 / 1674 / 20

Until level 15 I have myself tested, the other values are the network GTX cards. Here are three cards:

    1. XFX 8800GTS 640 (green): Level 13
    2. Asus 8800GTS 640 (green): Level 11
    3. Pixelview 8800GTS 640 (black): Level 14

Thanks for the list. If something should come out one game to justify that the overclocking would then possibly but only then. Currently, power in abundance but is available. Even with my new Windows Vista enough power is there (still I have not tried Windows 7), although I have no correct drivers for the graphic card.

First of all thanks to 'Valliy' for the list. Well then the MS Flight Simulator X (I play mainly because one of the first DirectX 10 games will be) my GTS comes very strongly to their limits! With anti-aliasing - this must really be in this game, otherwise the whole thing sinks into nothing but jagged edges - and high quality settings I have curves near the ground around 15 fps ! Since then, discussions on whether it might have been better but the GTX and not "just" to take the GTS, although it is only 1280x1024.

I was having some problem while overclocking with the 8800 GTS. Whether I Overclock or not depends on whether the extra capacity available in a decent relationship with warranty and risk. Therefore, I would be interested, how much more power you actually brings the overclocking. Benchmarks would be great of course!! What you think guys,...

I feel the same way. The unofficial driver works quite acceptable, but it is still annoying. I see it that way, if the graphics settings is high enough, the G80 also comes with many games to its limits. Do not get me wrong, the G80 is great, but you should also adjust the image quality so that it is required maximum. I have such a monitor up to 16x12 and go with Oblivion and SplinterCell4 back to 12x10, at least let the other settings on high.

"Performance in abundance" is really not expressed correctly. I've also been wondering how, well, is conservative, the community here, where are clocked at the 8800 Forum mercilessly for the past two months, which brings me to your question:
So there is no GTS, not the 612MHz core and 900Mhz memory easily tolerate, usually far more than that, those are is what I call 20% + pure processing power.
    In figures: GTS 3DMark06 default: 8356 and @ 621/1458 core / 900MHz Mem: 9360

However, I think it is not worthwhile to squeeze whatever (temperature, etc.) a € 350 down to the last chip to eliminate judder, it's usually not enough. Overclocking replaced I never believe a new graphics card generation. However, I do not know why the reserves of the chips, which are above the specifications should be unused. The specifications are designed but always on safety. It's just good to find the limits of the respective chips, then go back and do something that is part now runs perfectly.

The GTS is also very fast and with it you can play current (play Gothic 3, Medieval 2, Anno 1701, STALKER, etc.) smoothly even with high settings. a good CPU memory should also be present. so why not overclock the card? If we are to read through tests will be seen that the GTS significantly higher clock rates without problems endure. My GTS is running at 620 MHz core clock and 940 MHz memory clock without nuclear or similar visual errors (default: 500 MHz, 800 MHz memory). The positive cooling it still possible to get proper service from the map.
