Advice on overclocking i7 920 on gigabyte ud7

I start my first steps in overclocking i7 . I think I understood the concept. My config is as follows :
    Core I7 920
    Gigabyte ud7
    G. Skill PC3- 10666 CL9
    Gainward GTX 275 GS
    Cooler Master Real Power m850watt
I get to reach 3ghz with a vcore of 1.1v in the bios and everything is stable . I then increase the vcore to 1.15, block port PCI Express on the 100mhz vram to 1.5 and reduce the multiplier to 8 ram . I could go to 3.2GHz without any problem , the pc was stable after a test of Prime95 . The only problem I noticed is that gta 4 train when I run for example , or when I'm driving . One thing that does not support 2.6GHz which is weird. I do not know what else to change , I change the BCLK , the ratio of memory, and the vcore. I hope you will help me to find out this problem.

My advice is put the proc or @ 3.33 (this is the simplest) , or at most @ 3.6 Ghz ( the you got a little more manipulations ) , but no more. Then OC the RAM much as you can , but I suppose that you could not do much with it given the OC of the process . Anyway OC RAM is not very useful. Once you OC your convenience , you make an hour of OCCT CPU and also a memtest ( boot via CD ) . If all well and wish that you really need the OC , so you keep this config.

Firstly before you overclock the Core i7 920, we have disabled the Turbo mode via the bios. This feature , a reminder, automatically overclock the cores according to the load , without exceeding the TDP of the processor , set at 130 watts . The maximum overclocking mode is 2 " bins "or 2x133.33 MHz , 266.66 MHz , then. To overclock the Bclk , reduce the multiplier QPI link speed , just as we reduced the coefficient of Hyper - Transport link on Processors AMD order not to be limited by the bus .

Apart from the QPI link speed, it will also adjust the multiplier of the uncor ( integrated memory controller, L3 cache ) . Here we have a choice between x12, x14 , x16 , x18 , x20 , x22, x24, x26, x28 and x30 . Note that the frequency of the uncor directly influences the memory bandwidth . The goal is simple: find the best coefficient of maintaining good bandwidth. A greater frequency " uncor " can increase the overall performance via memory bus clock and QPI . It can increase blood IOH uncor to stabilize at higher frequencies. Because each CPU is different, it is only in testing that we can find the proper setting.

The last value to be taken into account to increase the multiplier will Bclk memory bus , severely limited by a i7 920 because we have the choice between 6X (DDR3 -800) and 8X (DDR3 -1066 ) . The i7 940 and i7 965xe have a greater number of multiplier . If one owns holding 1600MHz DDR3 , this will not cause any concern for overclocking with Bclk of 200mhz and memory 8X multiplier , we will reach the highest memory specifications.

It is a common case of an overclock that does not simply . So the first thing you have done a Clear CMOS to find a standard setting in the BIOS trustworthy. Anyway, you must configure your machine starts with the way that is more standard , and see if the problem persists . Then , restart your OC in increments , if the problem occurs again then it is the OC that does not simply.
