    How to Overclock E2140?

    Hi guys,
Hello everyone I have an E2140 processor running at 1.6 GHz that I decided to overclock, I got to bring them up to 2.12 GHz, but I can not go further. The following are some information about my system :

    CPU Type DualCore Intel Pentium E2140, 2133 MHz (8 x 267)
    Instruction Set x86, x86-64, MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3
    Min / Max CPU Multiplier 6x / 8x
Code Cache Level 1 32 KB per core
    Level 2 cache 1 MB (On-Die, ASC, Full-Speed)
    Core Voltage 1262 V
    Voltage input / output 1262 V
    Typical Power 65 W
    Maximum Power 99.4 W

The main thing I want to know is how to overclock E2140? Hope that you guys will help me (as usual)!!

The E2140 model , the analysis will be available in the market in June and E2160 differs from the frequency multiplier. The E2140 has a 8x multiplier and 1.6 GHz frequency, whereas the E2160 has a 9x multiplier and runs at 1.8 GHz. These processors are indeed Intel Core 2 Duo slightly cut. For only have 1 MB of L2 cache inclusive and shared by both cores, have 800 MHz FSB, the same as the Core 2 Duo and lack E4xxx virtualization extensions. All other features are common with the Core 2 Duo: They use the same architecture and the same manufacturing process of 65 nm, have 64 KB L1 cache (32KB for data, 32KB for instructions) per core, is encapsulated LGA-775, have the power management options EIST and C1E state and have the x64 instruction sets, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3 and Execute Disable NX.

    Re: How to Overclock E2140?

Due to the smaller number of transistors have half the cache these Pentium E are cooler than the Core 2 Duo. In the package are called Pentium Dual-Core and the reference of this processor E2140 sSpec is SLA3J, still does not appear on Intel's official website. This processor should work without problem in any suitable motherboard for Core 2 Duo; In any case, you should update your motherboard BIOS to recognize the processor properly. Now comes the batch of tests. The E2140 series is about 10-15% slower in tests SiSoftware Sandra XI that the E6300 series, understood to have half the cache and run at least 266 MHz. With overclock is clearly capable of overcoming E6600 series and taking a quarter of L2 cache.

    Re: How to Overclock E2140?

We spent the 3DMark 2005 1024x768 and the default set of tests with a Radeon X1950 GT 256 MB memory HyperX 2x1 GB DDR2-800 4-4-4-16. In this test it is clearly noted the difference between the amount of cache for Core 2 Duo and Pentium E2140: The 2.9 GHz Pentium E2140 not removed or 100 points ahead of the E6600 series, which operates at 2.4 GHz and gives 9380 points. In series, the E2140 achieved 8120 points and the E6300, 8807. Changing of evidence, we turn to the comparison of applying a set of filters to a 3072x2048 RAW image. On this occasion the best processor is the E2140, which takes 77.3 seconds and the worst the same E2140 series with 135.2 FPS. This time it exceeds the E2140 overclocked to E6600 series with 91.2 seconds. When WME9 encode at 1080p, the E2140 with OC is again leading with 63 seconds, 103 seconds would be too late. In this task the E6600 takes 72 seconds.

    Re: How to Overclock E2140?

We will base ourselves on a E6600 for explanations, already to make a OC (OC) to 3.2 GHz to 3.6 GHz and after. I can not show you all possible settings on all the Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad, but rather serve as a basis to begin the OC without having to always copy the same instructions in different post.
    1. Once in the BIOS (of course update), it must go in the "FORWARD" This is where everything happens for the CB.
    2. We will therefore begin "Setting PROCESSOR".
    3. Now we go "Setting JumperFree" "Setting System Frequency / Voltage".
    4. Then we will see for timing, it is always "FORWARD" then "Chipset" then "Northbridge" memory and therefore it is always based on timings 4.4.4.12.
    5. Of course, to go to such frequencies, it does not mount directly to 3.2 or 3.6 Ghz, it should be done in steps, that is to say in bus frequency, it starts up by 20 25Mhz or more, do a test in Windows, a kind of Super PI with 8 or 16MB to see if the OC is BUG and not after, we must continue to rise but by less than top tier of like 5 or 10Mhz to achieve the 400MHz bus frequency.
    6. And also, very importantly, we have to watch temperatures, both the PROC, as the CM (Motherboard).
    7. Software utilent for any OC are: Super-PI for testing intermidiaires, CPU-Z to see the frequency PROC / RAM and complete information when utilent OC Orthos or double SP2400 for the final test of the OC.

    Re: How to Overclock E2140?

We spent two file compression programs well known. 7-Zip The GNU and the owner WinRAR. Of the two, 7-Zip 4.42 seems to be more demanding with the cache in the light of the results: With the default test, the E2140 compressed to 2110 KB / s to overclock to 2.9 GHz, 3222 KB / s . With the overclock than the E6420, 3090 KB / s, and the E6300, 2.595 KB / s, but not E6600 achieves 3423 KB / s. In Winrar 3.70, the king is the E2140 overclocked giving 864 KB / s, while standard da 602 KB / s. For comparison, the 667 gives E6300 and E6600 KB, 778 KB / s. The E6420 gives 10 KB / s less than the E6600.
