    Overclocking Amd Athlon 64 x2 5200+

    Hi,
I am facing problem to overclock my Amd Athlon 64 x2 5200+ . When I ma making adjustment via rivatuner windows fails to start and my pc freezes. So far i have only clocked bios 200 MHz to 210MHz and I turn now to 2848 MHz instead of 2700 Mhz, but it seems this processor can mounted to 3 GHz . I would like to know how to make the necessary software if it takes. I troubles sometime but works after restart. What can be the issue.

To overclock it in the BIOS needs to be changed. Now, this can plant any time after you overclock. But (speaking for myself), I do not see the interest of overclock an AMD 5200 + should function on dth 2.5 ghz. The first 2 questions which are very important for overclocking is first what type of cooling you are using and what psu you have (power and brand).

Your graphics card is a bit oversized for this CPU even overclocked, is it that you always limited. I myself had a 5000 + overclocked (3.4GHz on watercooling) and it still reined that I bought my 4870. You can have the 3 ghz no problem with your motherboard simply mount the fsb to have 3 ghz if you want more. But that can be risk sometime which can damage your system.

What you must understand the overclock is that you must reach a stable frequency to a reasonable temperature. So a good CPU cooler and PSU are a good bet. The head generated inside the tower must be drained out completely. This will only be possible if your system has enough ventilation in it or you can afford liquid colling support for you system.

Enter the BIOS, and increase the FSB of 5, then just reboot. If this solution does not work then restore the old settings back again to avoid further errors. You can also try a 1 hour on a test of OCCT a free software for temperature testing and observe your temperature. This must not exceed 80 degrees C, stop the test and decreases your overclock (or improves cooling). If the test fails before 1am, the FSB back down to 5. If the test passes, we set out again for another fsb on 5.

In your BIOS, you will have the option Vcore, this determines the CPU voltage. For you can increases the same to single screen. Then, check if you boot, then a OCCT 1h (no less!) For stability. Always keep an eye on your temperature too. if everything is stable, adds another 5 to the FSB and then again until you reach the max stable at this voltage. Then another notch more on the Vcore, and starts the whole, but is careful not to exceed 1.45 V.
