What steps are included in CPU Overclocking?

Sponsored Links
Hi friends,
I have heard that overclocking the CPU increases the speed of the system. I don't know anything about the CPU overclocking and you can consider me as newbie in this topic. Please tell me what steps are included in CPU Overclocking? Since I don't know about it, please provide me the detailed information. Also explain me some terms that should be known before doing the overclocking.

Re: What steps are included in CPU Overclocking?

CPU Overclocking is a process for increasing the number of GHz CPU. The formula for calculating the CPU speed is as follows - the product of the FSB in MHz and the multiplier is the speed in MHz FSB. The FSB is a shortened form of front side bus. From overclocking of the CPU is a process to increase the number of GHz CPU. Overclock a processor (or adapter) is to make this component at a speed exceeding the speed of normal operation. The overclocking of the processor is possible for 2 main reasons. The first is that the depth sizing its processors by allowing a safety margin to ensure reliability and avoid too expensive back VAS. The second is that the manufacturing technology of processors used.

The FSB is a shortened form of front side bus. This is done only by sending more instructions per clock cycle. Thus, in each clock cycle, they sometimes send two or four instructions. This translates into increased FSB twice and four times respectively. This is of paramount importance. The reason is that when overclocking the CPU is done, the user deals with the real FSB speed of the CPU and not the effective CPU speed.

Before doing the overclocking, you should know about the Multiplier. This is simply a number that when multiplied by the FSB speed results in the overall speed of the CPU. For example, if a CPU with 300MHz FSB and a multiplier of 10, then the CPU speed becomes 3000 MHz or 3.0 GHz for the CPU and Intel CPUs, the multiplier is a number fixed and can not be altered. On the other CPUs like the AMD Athlon 64, this number is higher locked. The implication is that the multiplier can be changed to a lower number but can not be changed to a number higher. For some CPUs, the multiplier is completely unlocked. In this case, you can switch to any number higher or lower. This is convenient for overclockers.

It is easier to overclock the system by increasing the multiplier rather than the FSB. The reason is that the multiplier only affects the speed of the CPU. The increase means the overclocking of the CPU. However, if the FSB is changed is to change the speed of each component that communicates with the CPU. Therefore, this means overclocking all other parts of the computer system as well. This can lead to a number of problems. The components are not designed to be overclocked are forced to do so and may not fulfilled.

Re: What steps are included in CPU Overclocking?

I am trying to explain you the logic of the overclocking of CPU. The operating speed of a CPU is governed by 2 main parameters: the FSB (frequency of data bus) and the multiplier. The CPU speed is equal to the fsb and multiplier. To go to the overclocking itself must go into the BIOS, by pressing a button (usually del.) to boot your PC. On most modern motherboards, you can adjust the CPU (fsb and coeff) from the bios and for older motherboards must do the same manipulation but moving jumpers directly on the motherboard.
