Does Driver Update is necessary for Overclocking

    Hi,
I feel that my computer has some problems in games. The animations are not really fluent. They sometimes lags or delivers a low quality in some area. To gain a few FPS (frames per second) on the screen, I can certainly reduce the level of detail or resolution of the game but the game experience it again then altered. I had never overclocked the GPU but planning to do so. Does a driver update is necessary for overclocking a GPU.

Ideally, it would certainly change the graphics card or processor and add memory to your computer. But you want to limit your spending. There is a solution to this economic or overclocking your graphics card that can save easily 10% to 20% performance. For graphics cards, you can play on two factors: the frequency of the GPU (graphics chip) and the memory of the video card. By increasing the frequency of the GPU and memory, your graphics card will therefore produce more heat and artifacts in games (objects that are not well displayed). Therefore no question of pushing the frequency back to avoid damaging your hardware.

To do this first install the latest video drivers. For games that communicate with your video card and fully exploit its features, uses Windows drivers. Created by the manufacturers of your hardware, video drivers are updated regularly to support new models of video cards. To provide optimization and to improve performance in games. Don't forget to stop when you see artifacts in 3D scenes (additional or missing polygons). In this case is that you're limited to the graphics card. Decrease then the frequencies of 10 MHz.

The latest driver udpates also help to add new features color management, video output, video acceleration, etc. By the update you can see corrected small display problems in some games. To optimize your graphics and make the best use in games, we advise you to regularly update its drivers. To test the performance of your graphics card before and after overclocking, you can use a utility like 3DMark benchmark.

Various activities which may take several minutes are then posted to test the performance of your computer. If the animations are sometimes slow, this is normal, these tests are intended to override the graphics of 3D objects and effects of all kinds. PowerStrip software will allow you to play on the operating frequency of memory and GPU of your graphics card to improve its performance.

You can use PowerStrip for that. It allows you easily to increase the frequency of memory and GPU of your video card, whatever the make and model. It remains to adjust the precise overclocking your graphics card for best performance while maintaining a stable system. With 3DMark 06, test the performance of your graphics card overclocked.
