Need advice to build system for virtualisation purose

Hi, I am a student and learning MCSA course. I have a laptop with Core2duo 2Ghz with 2 gb ram. When I use virtual machines on it, it gets hot and end up with Blue screen error. So I have decided to build custom desktop.
I want to use it mostly for Virtualisation and Gaming purpose.
I have read that AMD processors are good in Virtualisation and Gaming. So I want to build system having AMD Quad core or any other high end processor with 4 or 8 gb DDR3 RAM with good graphics card and with 1TB harddrive.
The desktop should be able to run 3-4 virtual machins, Also pls advice about cooling system of CPU.

Pls advise the good configuration which suits my needs. I don't have so good knowledge about hardware.

If you check for the Virtualisation and Gaming purpose then you will get this configuration on internet. So, I think if you add more than this then it will work fine. So, use this for your minimum configuration :

I dont want to comprise on motherboard and processor, upgrading them is much costly. What do you think about i7 and phenom II processor? I want to use my new build for virtualisation purpose. Will anyone of these processor help me better?

AMD Phenom II processors is the maximum with the Barcelona architecture, limiting the processors to an Intel created mid-range field. It have function like smaller fabrication processes with 45 nanometer, and has different caches. This processor run at 3.0 GHz fairly easy but obviously also performance tests with games as this processor might be a really good sweet spot for high-end graphics cards. The cost is $236 for AMD Phenom II X4 920 (2.8 GHz) and $278 for AMD Phenom II X4 940 (3.0 GHz). Best of Luck.
