Re: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition overclocking and performance

overclocking the processor has proven quite good with a frequency of 3.5 GHz at default voltage on M4A79 Deluxe cooling Noctua NH-U9B. 1.4V were required to 3.6 GHz, 3.7 GHz at 1.45V and 3.8 GHz at 1.55V with air-cooling, i have not exceeded this voltage still 15% higher than the default. The frequencies obtained are stable.

Re: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition overclocking and performance

because of the distinct patterns of power CPU on the Athlon and Phenom memory controller (which is not built on Core 2) consumes 10 to 15W in load it is not on Core i7 ,being powered via the standard ATX . despite tension contained consumption Phenom II X4 955 is up significantly compared to the Phenom II X4 940, with 5 watts more at rest, It is therefore up to a level close to the Phenom X4 9950, far from the Core 2 Quad

Overall the Phenom II X4 955 lies in a Q9450 in terms of performance. overall it is 7% faster than the Phenom II X4 940, due to a gain of 7% at the processor frequency and 12% at the frequency of the memory controller.

Compared to Intel the Phenom II X4 955 is between the Core 2 Quad Q9400 and Q9550 . From a standpoint of overall performance, it is an average level of the Q9450. The overclocking does not really change the deal, however, i am able to reach 3.8GHz an increase of 18.75% so better than Q9400/Q9550. Consumption is also more significantly from previous Phenom II.
