    Geforce 9600 verto overclocking

    Hello everybody,

I obtained a PNY Verto 9600 GSO OverClocked edition for a back up card. Basically Iuse other way to NVidia cards, shader clock overclocking and linking with core clock. With aide of the EVGA Precision tool me take the card from its stock clocks of 575/850/1438(core/mem/shader) to 615/950/1538 with the shaders and core linked. Anything over that and Vantage crashes with a driver reset. Now is this my max clock for the card or can I get it higher by un linking the shaders and core.

    thanks goes for any suggestions

As far as my concerned which solely depends on your computer, this card is going to draw near 100w or 9a from your 12v rail. Most systems, other than really high end and older Pentium4 systems, will much draw less than 150w total without the video card.It might be crashing because it could be clocked to much.you could possibly burn things up and you don't need to do that or it just would not run right and it would be unstable.

I had a Galaxy 9600GSO card with the default clocks of 600/800/1500 and i was able to OC-it without any crashes or any sort of artifacts at 680/900/1750 (core/shader unlinked). At the same time Most clocks I see with those are close to 700 for the core, around 1738 for the shader, and around 1000 for the mem. Even though my old graphics card was 10x worse, it was able to hit 1600x1200 resolution on my monitor while my new card only allows me to reach 1280x1024

Hello friend,I guess that it's a heat issue rather than a voltage issue. I heard the PNY cooler isn't all that great. What temps are you getting?.My eVGA 9600GSO runs at 741 core/1836 shader/1053 memory. I haven't volt modded it yet either.I heard that the 9600GSOs now aren't G92s, but G92B cards, which apparently aren't as good. That could be the issue
