computer won't start due to overheating

MY computer DELL Inspiron 8200 recently started to act up and it wont start even after pressing the power button. I found out that if I keep it running just for five minutes, it will get overheated, as I already have opened the case and the processor is very heated up. So could it be that reason that my computer won't start due to overheating? What precautions can I take to solve it? Thank you

What is the watts on the power supply cause if it is 350 watt then it is no good, try a 450 watt psu or better 600 watt psu. You may have burn out power supply, so unplug a lead from your hard drive four hole in plug two 12volt two 5 volt test with meter anything? if not its died on you.

Make sure you Video Card is seated properly. I can't tell you how many times my damn computer wouldn't start because the card was out a little.

Make sure you CPU is seated correctly. If it's Socket A then you should have done that without a problem.

Make sure the FAN is running. My computer won't even start if the FAN on the CPU is not running.

Make sure you have the switch on the Power supply is set so you only see 115 and not 230.

I think the first problem was leaving it on straight for a few days in a room that is, as you put it, "very hot and humid". Its likely something has over heated, and hopefully not for the worst. Did you take the fan and the metal heat sink under it off? Or did you pull everything out including the CPU that might be stuck to the underside of the heat sink? I would call Dell and see if they can help. Dell motherboards often use special heat sinks and fans. You will need to order a replacement from them.
