Hi,
I managed to overclock my laptop with software. Can i overclock my pentium3 1ghz desktop with same software? Or is there any other way to overclock it?
Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Overclocking is depends on your memory. You can select 100Mhz memory speed in your BIOS. Use a software the checks your system temperatures. A good one is motherboard monitor 5.xx. It's free and should be easy to find. If you run your system with higher speed you get higher temperatures and you want to keep your CPU and other parts a while longer. You also have to look for the cards on your motherboard ans not just the ram. You have to find the optimal speed for yourself for your system.
You can only install up to 256MB per slot & it MUST be low density RAM as higher ones wont work. ALL RAM produced these days is high density. Low density PC133 is very expensive & is NOT worth the investment. Try overclocking it with a copper Volcano 7+ Heatsink on Biostar motherboard.
Be sure to use PC100 100-MHz memory when overclocking instead of the Celeron-standard PC66 66-MHz memory. PC133 133-MHz memory is available, but it is unlikely that you will be able to get your processor to run at a FSB speed that high. It’s available in both a cartridge format and FCPGA socket 370. Cartridge-based Pentium IIIs at less than or equal to 600MHz sometimes use the same on-die cache format as Pentium IIs and have similar overclocking problems. The Pentium III also poses additional hurdles in that some processors use a 133-MHz FSB, requiring high-speed memory or particularly overclock-friendly motherboards.
