Running PC without a chassis fan

Hey, is it "dangerous" driving a PC without a chassis fan?

The reason I ask is that I have quite noisy cabinet, and it also runs maximum speed constantly (which I would not think was necessary, but I can not set it in BIOS). I see that my idle temp has risen slightly, it is now approx. 40-45C on the CPU where it stood before the 30-35C.

Someone who knows a fan controller program which works with MSI motherboard (Nvidia chipset), or perhaps some who can recommend a cooler that is quiet?

It does not matter, however, hard drives etc from a through-air. So if I were you I would buy 2 pc Papst coolers with low db. A running air into the front and running air out the back. But not absolutely necessary, many PCs are running with only cpu coolers.

Okay... Have just ordered a 3.5" thing to control fans with. I can just turn off for them when I want serenity and screw up again when I play crysis .. he he..

A little info about my machine:
    Intel Q6600
    Geforce 8800GT (Factory OC)
    MSI P6N-SLI motherboard

Okay, yes it is also a way to do it
Or buy a proper fan of lower dB, as listed on all fans.

I just do not always db figures fit with reality. The last I bought Papst (80mm) killed 160, - and had to be at 12dB. The noisy fun enough more than I have given Add 20, - for which cools just as well, thus blowing the same amount of air. But generally, the Papst, but little publicized in my opinion.

Weights the way I always (!) 12V cabinet fans on for 7v. (And probably why I have old power supply cables and connectors available for this).

The solution of a regulator is probably the best, but some regulators have (still) to sit / drone / click. Some worse than others, of course.
