    Can I use a 16V transformer

My old power supply burned and so I would like to know if I can use a transformer delivering 16V alternative knowing that it takes 10.5V. Resistance in series, [not a good idea (too simple)] would be enough? Otherwise what?

It depends on the power, put a resistance will save just a unnecessary loss of power. Maybe you are between 9 and 15V, for example.

You're sure this is the alternative that you need and you have the 16V transformer?

After verification, it is the 10.5V ~ 750 ml of origin. But power supply replacement is of 900 ml in 16V DC. Your application has cleaned the eyes and I concluded that it is too complicated to transform the continuous alternative.
    Damage.

    750mA not ml

You just need to find a transformer ...

Or tweak to go after your 16V rectifier your camera but it quickly becomes more complicated, especially without a pattern!

Are you sure that your application answering the alternative? In general, a voltage of 10.5 V. rather it is a continuous issue and if the old transformer out of the alternative, there is probably a circuit conversion (recovery + filtering) in the same voice.

    Your transformer 16v is continuous?

In this case, a simple test can be done. Buy a single regulator: LM7810

The LM7810 will lower your voltage to 10V transformer and then you connected it to your answering machine.
