| Overclock an AMD x2 5400 +
I recently got a new computer with an amd x2 5400 processor. This is standard on 2800 mhz. Now I want to overclock to 3ghz, if possible. Now my FSB is 200 and the multiplier is 14x. If I make a simple calculation should I increase my FSB to 214 to which 3ghz it. Is There anything wrong ? My motherboard is an MSI K9A2 CF with a Zalman CNPS 9700 NT cooler for my processor. The memory is 2gb A-data DDR2 800. Idle temp is 29 degrees and stressed 41. Thanks

This is just hear 0.2Ghz vCore adjust is not needed. my AMD Sempron overclocked from 1.8 to 2.4GHz without reset vCore. So it will certainly succeed. I do not know if you are in possession of the Black Edition version of the 5400 +? This mine is a long time on 3.1 Ghz and I only have increased the multiplier to 15.5. |

Anyway, the chance is there in that thick 3Ghz do to get to. You have a nice CPU cooler, so that I stand no such problem. If it is not stable, you can enhance Mhz back a number of clocks. If you have black-edition, you can just throw up your multiplier also. |

I have no idea about the edition, maybe you can on the basis of these data to deduce which version it is? And if it is not a black edition of the settings can I do in bios? CPU-z shows the following information nation again Family: F Model: B Stepping: 2 Ext. Family: F Ext Model: 6B Revision: BH-G2 Core info: Core speed: 2800.3 MHz Multiplier: 14x Bus Speed: 200 MHZ HT Link: 1000.1 MHz The core voltage is 1320 V Technology is 65 Nm I hope this is enough info.

I thought BE (black edition) without amd cpu heatsink / fan came anyway and so should an after market cooler. You can actually also very simple in your BIOS to see if you have an option to your multiplier, you can increase the multiplier to 16. |
