    Lowering temperature on E6700

I want to overclock my E6700 to use it till time I upgrade it. So it is for short period and therefore I will like to overclock it as much as possible.

    Setting that I've changed:

    vCore: 1.475

    memvoltage: 2.20

    reference frequency: 333

    timings: 4-4-4-12

After this, the overclock helped it reach upto 3.5GHz but at the same time when checked the voltages with prime95 it reached well over 70C I may be giving more voltages at some places. how can I avoid this and reduce voltages keeping the overclock?

Thats about right for air cooling. People saying they are getting much lower then 40C are full of it, or they are giving the reading the bios gives, which is almost always wrong.

The temps you need to look at are Core 0, and Core 1. From that it does indeed look like your temps are pretty high. If I had to guess it's due to a bad heatsink mount. Try reseating, etc. Or try getting good heatsink to dissipate much of temp.

The best overclock i have seen with that core on air is about 3.3ghz which is where i am with my E6600. Another thing you can do is clean the fans in the case and put the computer in a cooler place. Other than that you cant do much with air without extra components for keeping it cool.
