As the title suggests, I am tired of my noisy computer.
I had a theory that my alu-formed cabinet resonance and thus increased noise from blowers. After reading several posts I have got the impression that when people demand quieter computers, greater emphasis is placed on the choice of coolers than cabinets.
I am satisfied with my computer's performance and have never had problems with overheating. I use it approx. 6 hours a day for word processing and an hour with CS. The computer is turned on like 8-10 hours a day.
By opening up, listen and try, I have located the most annoying sound to the graphics card fan.
I have some questions:
1. Should I buy a new cabinet (the expensive option). In that case, it is hot on Antec Performance 182 or NZXT HU001.
2. Can I cut the cord to the graphics card fan, and not to be cooling on the graphics card? (cheap solution)
3. Or do I need a passive cooler for the graphics card? - If so, what is recommended?
4. Can I somehow have a cabinet coolers? (and of course PSU and cpu)
Possibly, if I replace some of them? and which can then be recommended?
(considering the switch CPU it has been running for 4 years - as PSU-fan)
5. An alternative would be to blower or other noise reduction materials in the pages. But I have heard that it does not help much, but increases the heat considerably. Some input on the idea?
