| CI7 920 @ 4 Ghz @ ~ 86C (prime95)
Have read very much about overclocking of CI7 920 processor at various forums, and websites that have guides. Yet I must say that is just a little tiny grane wiser than when I started. I mention that I have Noctua SE1366 with 2 fans in push-pull, and supplied with NT-H1 refrigerated paste. CPU has an idle-temp at around 50C. In the BIOS I have the following settings: CPU Ratio: Auto (21) BCLK: 191 CPU Voltage: 1.4 CPU PLL: 1.88 QPI / DRAM: 1.35 DRAM bus: 1.64 Hyperthreading: Disabled Virtualization: Disabled DRAM: 570Mhz NB: 3054Mhz I am running OCZ Low-Voltage 3x2GB modules which only requires 1.5 volts, even at 1600MHz, but I have heard that when one increases bclk, one must also increase the voltage to memory modules. Is this? As it says in the title, it keep the temperature of the CPU between 80C and 86C (82, 84, 81, 79) when I run Prime95. I wonder if this is too high, or if it is OK when running stress tests. Real Temp is the program I use to see temperatures. Although I have suspected that the cooler may be mounted incorrectly, or that I have caused the cooling paste error. Therefore, I have the cooler on and off almost 3 times, and there is very little improvement, but it is there. So now I consider to go for a little stronger fans. Any suggestions? Had also been good with feedback on how I have made the various volt-fields. For high? After I began to fill with the BIOS I notice that the CPU-Z, Core Temp and Real Temp starts up slower than before, much slower. Even after I reset the BIOS they are slow. Someone who knows what's going on here? Other tips and suggestions are appreciated. Sincerely. |

Now I do not know how the system for the i7's, but on the intel core CPU then motherboard with a metal frame to immobilize the cpu. This is unnecessary and can lead to poor contact between the cooler and cpu. Other so poor air circulation can also provide high temp on the CPU. |

Temperatures are not too high, but it is approaching. Believe however that you should be able to put down the vCore a bit. 1.4 is pretty much for 4ghz. Have you tested with the lower. This will help the lowering of the temperatures. |
