Overclocking PC: video card and processor

Oki guys, have some questions about overclocking:

Has had a long desire to overclock my PC a little, thinking especially of the processor (and graphic card. No more than just overclock?)

    Have this:
video card: PowerColor Radeon HD 4870
Processor: Intel Core Duo E8500 3.16 GHz

Will not overclock the extremely much. Do not know how much I can clock my components.

Have heard that you need to download programs such as overclocking components ....(?)
PC must have good cooling when one overclocks, and in consequence I have the following speedfan temp.:
    High speed: Low speed:
    System: 27C 24
    CPU: 25C 23C
    AUX: 1C (?) 4C (?)
    Core 0: 28C 27C
    Core 1: 30C 29C

    So what should I do?
Can overclock both cpu and video card?
    How much can I overclock?
    How to overclock?

    Thanks to everyone.

What do you mean with "some" overclocking, you should cross a 10-15% raise in the component's performance before you notice much of a difference in the system.

Fortunately for you, you have a good cpu and a good video card to overclock (if you've got a batch, you have an OC monster.)

GPU is fine, download a program like rivartuner, many guides are there, and GPU is very easy to overclock.

But the memory and cpu are related to the FSB (front side bus). So it means that you must make sure that the memory is sufficient when you overclock cpu.

With a little overclocking I think that I do not clock it all the way to the limit to get temp. at 70C or at the video card blows.
    GPU Power?

What is the temperature of the GPU under load? Have a PowerColor 4850 card, but I could not overclock much before I bought a new cooler to it.

I use AtiTrayTool to overclock. Nowadays it is quite risky to destroy a video card by just a overclock, unless you are doing volt-adjustment.
