I do not see why the fact of putting Zalman VF1000 would allow to install the chart on a P5Q-E. It is what which blocks, the hull of the graphics card in fact?

If not, you could explain us why you do not want a ATI ?

However I see on google much of anybody having a GTX280 and a P5Q-E. Why not ATI ? I know it is an unpleasant troll, but is this because of its reputation it had in last few years ?

    Good for ATI:
    • Yes already it there with the reputation of the previous year…
    • Not enough driver left or too long time after the exit the plays
    • The satabiliter of the charts is not that there is best
    • Noise
    • Overheating

My question does not speak about ATI but about the cooling of a GTX 260 on Asus P5Q-E

In my opinion yes, that will return. The graphics card does not pass very close to the motherboard. It must be studied for, the graphics cards with rad on 2 slots it is very current. In the worst case you put it on the second port NCV-express train.
